Three Mound Systems
When local health requires a mound, it says that the site is already difficult for any type of septic system. Lousy or shallow soil over a water table or over shallow solid rock, are the main reasons mounds have a mixed record for reliability. Therefor mounds are one of the more difficult systems to design. The best way to avoid premature problems is by providing clear drawings, detailed specifications, and complete instructions to local health, and to excavation contractors. This module contains 24 drawing sheets many with many extra drawing details, construction specs, and special clear notes. Why leave anything to chance? Our three examples cover how to specify the treatment media, float settings, panel options, calculating drainfield sizes, and even how to determine the basal area of the mound based on site slope.
